Rubber chops are here!

We received the rubber chops I had recently ordered for the girls today. They are GREAT! Christi at http://www.cadoam.com/ makes these. We have the stone chops we had made in China for each of the girls and while the stone chops are a really great piece of memorabilia for the girls to have....they don't stamp worth a darn! These rubber stamps are quick and easy to use and no mess! "Chinese Adoption Document Organizers and More" makes using a chop SO EASY!! The best part is that we used each girl's original Chinese characters of their names.

Now I just need to find a place to hide them so the girls don't stamp their name EVERYWHERE!!

Five years ago at the Civil Affairs Bureau office in the Guangdong
province I was handed a solid, chunky, 21 pound, nine month old baby girl.
She was dressed in a red, white and black striped velour onsie with feet. She
was very aware of everyone around her and was watching everything
intently. There were no tears from her, she was very sober faced. I
handed her over to her Daddy and she immediately had him wrapped around
her little, pudgy finger.



Today that girl is 65 pounds of joy, love, giggles, constant motion and
frustration (her parents and siblings!) She is a Kindergartener who is
so excited to be learning to read and write. She is a sibling who her
sisters love one minute and want away from the next! She gives the
best bear hugs/smooches and can make her lower lip curl down over her
chin when she pouts. She is loud, onery, rambunctious and all ours!

I remember it very clearly now. We moved into our last house on December 21, 2004. I remarked to my husband on that date, "I will NEVER move again!" Here we are three years later. What was I thinking?! I have many excuses of why our house is not in order by now, I have been working full-time, I was staying in our new house for three days a week then traveling back to our old house, the weather has been very uncooperative, we have four kids. Need I say more? However, I still feel overwhelmed with the task at hand. I have told myself, one box at a time, but I am yet to believe it! This is what our two car garage looks like. I am thinking that there is a VERY large garage sale in our future!

Chinese New Year Celebration

CNY is February 7th, 2008. We enter the Year of the Rat. No Rats in our house, but we always enjoy going out to meet and eat with other families like ours. The girls especially like to don their "Chinese dresses" for the occasion.

In sickness and in health.....

Sickness has settled over our home. RaeAnne was the first to start complaining of a sore throat and her tummy hurt. Our thermometer is packed in a box....somewhere. But touching hot foreheads and being able to distinguish between a fever and no fever has become second nature here at our house.

A week ago Saturday we were going to our old house to pack and move. Hubby had a couple of extra helpers with a trailer lined up for the day. He left the house early and I was to get the girls ready and catch up with them there. RaeAnne drags herself into our bedroom, pale and hot to the touch. "Mom, I don't feel good." Okay, change of plans. Little miss Kendalan is sitting on the couch, staring off into space, her eyes glassed over, cheeks pinkish. I touch her forehead...Ouch! That is hot! Off to Express Care for the five of us. After a 3+ hour wait, a few tears and a positive strep test for RaeAnne, the girls and I are headed to the pharmacy and back home. The Doctor remarks to me, "It will only be a matter of time before the rest of them are positive for strep too." Lovely!

Kendalan crashes out on our bed after seeing the doctor.


Sure enough, next morning ZoraLin crawls in bed beside me at 2:30AM and says hoarsly, "Mom, my throat hurts!" Jordis comes upstairs looking like a walking zombie and she is burning up. Back to Express Care for another 2+ hour wait. Okay, now all four girls are on antibiotics. I am thinking to myself that maybe we will get everyone healthy soon. That is what I get for thinking! Here we are a week later and everyone is still coughing, hacking and/or running a fever! Kendalan wakes up this morning with a WHOPPER of a rash ALL over her body. So, off to ER this time. Over two hours later, we come home with another prescription for her, orders not to give her any more antibiotic and a maybe diagnosis of "a possible reaction to the antibiotics or a viral infection, but it could be from the high fevers?!" YIKES!
